Mansion Tours – During the holidays, you can tour the mansion to get a closer look at the Washington home. Tours are held daily from 5:30 pm to 7:20 pm.
Wintry Lights – Watch the Mansion glow with dazzling blue and lavender moving wintry light patterns while you listen to classic holiday music and patriotic inspirational quotes.
Winter Encampment – As you stroll the grounds, you can visit a recreation of an 18th-century encampment with Christmas carolers, a working Blacksmith Shop, and Aladdin the Camel.
Winter Market – You will be amazed by beautiful, handcrafted 18th- century wares, cutlery, and crafts on display for sale at the Winter Market.
The Downtown Holiday Market
D.C. hosts a variety of holiday markets around the city, but one that attracts special attention is the Downtown Holiday Market, located next to the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This wonderful market has been around since 2005 and features more than 70 holiday vendors. There are a variety of unique Christmas gifts, holiday ornaments, handmade crafts and candles, beautiful jewelry, and antique items for sale. You can shop till you drop while you enjoy live music and delicious food from local vendors. Holiday Hours: Through December 23, 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The National Gallery of Art
If you're an art lover, don't miss the holiday celebration at the National Gallery of Art. There are more than 150,000 sculptures, paintings, original drawings, prints, photographs, and decorative arts on display in the gallery. After the gallery closes, you can enjoy ice skating with the family in the adjacent Sculpture Garden Ice Rink through March 6, 2022 (weather permitting). Holiday Gallery Hours: 10 am to 5 pm daily. Holiday Ice Rink Hours: Sun. through Thursday, 11 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday, 11 am to 11 pm.
The Kennedy Center
For an unforgettable holiday experience, bundle up the kids and head to the Kennedy Center for a one-hour presentation of A Family Christmas. The Choral Arts Chorus will take you on a merry sing-along experience with children's holiday classics. The one-hour concert is perfect for children ages 5 and up, and during the concert they will get a special visit from Santa, Rudolph, and Frosty.
